400 lbs! Isn't that supposed to be about 4/10 of a second difference? 1/10 second per 100 lbs?

But that info from cars.com is with both cars stock. He already said that his Monte has the supercharged L67 engine and tranny. Which is not stock for his year. Plus a couple other mods. So the weight is probably closer to being even.

Even if it was 4/10 of a second difference statistically, I still think it would be a driver's race. A bad launch, or many other driver-controlled factors could make or break the race for him.

Case in point:

I beat an 80's Mustang GT (5.0 V8) with my 1991 Cavalier Z24 (3.1 V6) many years ago. Simply because the idiot 16 year old who challenged me didn't know how to put the power to the pavement in "Mommy & Daddy's Mustang". He sat on the starting line doing a nice burnout while I pulled away from him and won.

In the race between his Monte and the Bonneville, I'm confident his Monte will win.

Cool wow!

WOW!
thats so funny..... ive been seeing SOOO many Bonnevilles around here ... which led me to some lite research last week. the slapped in V8 in one of the last, eh? i like the FRONTS of the most recent ones... but the rear end is another fine example of CLUMSY design.

like all that cladding of the pre-redesign grand prixs and stuff... what the F was that? hahha!

Pontiac did it right (finally) with the G8. i test drove (for fun) a G8 GT, and the new GXP is smoking. i still prefer my SS, though.

so....
my vote is on your monte. but your pals car is nice, too. dont get me wrong.

i hope when the sh*tstorm is over and things get better... economy-wise, AND with the fate of GM... i hope we see a return to better design across the board.

Honestly, I think until the u-bend comes out, you are sitting even. It will come down to the driver.

If it's a 2000 Monte and still sitting on your stock cat, it could be clogged (they are horrible) Plus your car is a weird hybrid and we don't know much about it. So who knows how well that thing was tuned when the new engine was dropped in.

At least his pontiac is from the factory stocked. And the pontiac's as stated earlier, are a teeny bit better tuned for performance over our cars.

The only thing the Bonneville has the upper hand on are the headlights. In a race the Monte wins.
