So my steering wheel is in great shape, well the leather is anyways. But the foam or whatever cars have when they dont have leather wrapped. Mine is 80% leather wrapped around the top and bottom but on the side its foam. well the clear coat or whatever that makes the foam soft is cracking and chipping away. My question is, is there a way to refinish the surface of the foam to make it soft again, or do I need a new steering wheel? Its not in horrible shape but you can tell it definitely has sign of wear.

 

there probably isnt much you can do about it....if it bothers you alot you might just wanna get a used steering wheel thats in good shape or something

 

If it is bad on the actual grip part of the wheel you could get a cover. There are some pretty nice leather covers that you stitch up yourself.

 

the grip is in great shape like I mentioned. Leather is almost untouched but its just the foam on the sides that are cracking from the sun beating down on it. i'll have to take a pic

 

I have put wheelskins on both my Monte and my parents' Monte. I think they look fantastic.

 

Those were what I was referring to, Chibi. That white looks fantastic in your parents' car. Do you remember what model that is? I want one that is identical to it. I wonder what color would look good on my car?

You will probably have to bite the bullet and get a new or slightly used wheel. Maybe check ebay.

 

They have a white monte, it looks fantastic.
