Default Spot to add freon

Hey everyone, so my A/C has started to warm up a bit and I went out and got some freon. Where is the spot at to add freon?

Don't use it. Go to a real shop and return that can. You can ruin the system with those.
You most likely have a leak somewhere

Already returned it. After I got it and got home I found that out, it went straight back lol. I did however use the gauge on it and the gauge said it was running fine. So idk, maybe I'm just crazy and my A/C is fine. Thanks Chibi

Stick a thermometer in one of your vents, and crank the A/C up. Use just the "upper" setting, and the thermometer should read about 40 degrees below the outside air temp - provided you're not using the recirculating setting.

If that's the case, your A/C is fine

Anytime you think your AC isn't working correctly. I would definitely go to a specialist. You don't have to go to a dealership, but let a mechanic that you trust check it out.

It's a closed system and shouldn't need a recharge, and if you overfill the system you can seriously damage it and it could cost a lot. Also sometimes there might be a blockage, and adding more freon doesn't actually help, only hurts.

Mike, is there somewhere you could put this thread/post to highlight the "do not do" this or even make a stickied thread for "do's and don'ts" when doing DIY repairs.......

I try to mention it whenever I see a thread on recharging lol. Not everyone reads old threads before they post
