speedo problem

Default speedo problem

hey yall on my 97 when i get about 55mph the needle sticks, only ways to unstick it are slowing below 40 and it'll kick back, accelerating above 70 and it'll kick over, or smacking the dash. any suggestions?

I would take apart the dash and see if something is causing the needle to stick. Otherwise get a new instrument cluster off Ebay or the junkyard.

do you hear any noise when it dose this also?
not real sure but belive yours were still cabel drive at that year. if this is the case could be the cabel is wore out or going out on you and it is slipping ther.e

I would think by '97 the carhasan electronic speedo head in it.

I know my '93 & '94 cars do.

They have a speed sensor mounted on the pass side transaxil that the speedo head operates off of. Not sure if GM/Chevies are like this or not but the speedo head should be electronic.

Yeh your best bet is to get down and dirty and see if theres something thats causingh it. Try taking it apart

its sensor driven, and ive taken it apart no noise, not touching anything even got the wheels in the air and got it up there with everything apart and i cant see whats causing it but its still doing it.

anymore suggestions?
