Default spark plug wire heat shields

We should make a thread for little questions that dont deserve there own thread like this little question. Do you guys use the heat shields for the spark plug wire boots? Im going to be installing new wires just wondering if theyre necissary.

It would be a good idea to reinstall them. They protect the spark plug boot from extreme heat. Without them the boots will dry and crack leading to a misfire.

I put new wires on the Deuce and re-used the stock shields. When I put the Headers on I am thinking of ceramic shields

I would re-use the heat shields. I've seen cars where they were removed and no long term issues, but I feel they serve a purpose. Make sure to use a little bit of plug boot grease (die-electric grease) and give the new boots a twist to spread it on the plug and boot. It will help with future service
