Something wierd in my engine bay
Here's a picture looking in the wheel well. There are 3 holes this thing looks like it's covering up. The piece itself is very soft and flexible. Not sure if it's because I just got home from driving it and the heat from the motor softened it??? It feels like a thick piece of aluminum foil; definitely not steel
The holes are obviously mounting holes for something not on your model, as seen in Dave's pic.
If it peels off easily, peel it, and plug the holes with some plastic caps or maybe those black plastic re-usable rivets that are used to hold the shroud around the hood latch.
Or leave it there, and list it as a mod. "Super conductive heat shielding!"

"Super conductive heat shielding!" That's great. I'll probably take your advice and peel it off and plug the holes with some plastic caps.
Thanks for all the help guys. I appreciate all the feedback
Ok I went out and looked at my car
The Monte Carlo LS does not come with ABS Brakes. Its an opition for that model.
The 3 holes are were the bracket mounts the ABS control module to the shock tower.
I would remove the tape and put screws in them and but a can of undercoating and spray
the area inside the wheel well

I looked at GPD's pic again from page 1, and he has something that appears to be mounted there that's not in rook5's pic. Is this the ABS? I looked at mine, and my engine bay is different from the '06 models.

Yup just checked my LTZ and I have the ABS unit mounted there as well. As for undercoating Mwrrench there wouldn't be any because they can't spray it over the bolts that attach the ABS unit in the fenderwell. And since the spray pattern is programmed it won't spray there even if it doesn't have ABS. It's just left bare.
