SOMEBODY HELP!!! (roof moulding/trim)
took the Monte to the carwash today. i usually do it by hand, but my schedule didnt allow it this week, and it was orange. (took it on a fishing trip, and had to drive down red dirt roads to get there.lol)
anyway... im wandering
it was a drive thru carwash. when i got out, the moulding/trim on the roof was half off. (the piece that runs from the front windshield to the back windshield on the top, in the ridge... where roof racks go)
i just pulled it the rest of the way off. it didnt really damage it. the paint had a couple tiny flakes, but they were barely noticable.
im not sure what made it come off. it could have something to do with it being 110 degrees outside, and my car sits in a parking lot with no shade ALL DAY. when i pulled it completely off, the half that was actually attatched just kinda slid off. lol
but there was alot of dirt underneath the area that came off. almost like it had been working its way loose for awhile. but not under the other half that was still attatched
anyways, srry this is kinda long. im just confused and worried now. any help??
thanks. Chris

How's the paint on the roof moulding that came off? Did it crack or chip at all? If not, remove the old tape and simply put on some new 3M double sided tape for auto trim mouldings. Clean the inside of the channel and dry it thoroughly. Then re-install the moulding. Should be good to go.

is it really a must have piece? or just for looks. cuz i can go either way really, as far as looks. but if it really does serve a purpose, then il put it back on
it didnt really crack. had some miner chips, but nothing noticable.
id say its reusable. if not, im gonna get new ones.

i'm pretty sure it helps keep water and junk out of the channel they use to seal the windshield and back glass to the car. . . . not sure about it, but i'd rather be safe and have it, than drive in rain and have a wet crotch IMO

and if you ever need you're windshield replaced. . . .you'll probably at least need to get under the front and rear edges of it
