Default Show off your First gen Monte Carlo

I am a relative newbee to this forum. I have a 1971 Monte Carlo. She has been a work in progress for the last 11 years. I have a tore up copy of the build sheet. Some items readable others are not. It has .030 over large journal 327 ci, a 700r4 overdrive trans, and 12 bolt rearend, headers Edelbrock intake manifold a/c not working yet. Best of all no electronics to get messed up.

Welcome to the forum!

Love the first generation Montes. Sounds like you've done a fair amount of work already. Good luck in your work in progress. Any idea how much more till it's done to your liking?

oh well mine is not close to to yours awsome SS. Taz I call her altered71. She started out with a blast. But one upgrade the transmission set me back 2k. That was over 1 1/2 years ago. I am getting my confidence back. The 01 SS I got from my daughter gave me hope that I will get altered back on the road. This car is nearly 40 years old. It is not a Chevelle or Camaro and not come into their own until recently. Oem parts are getting scarce and expensive. She has been in the garage 11 years being driven once or twice a month. 11 years and about 7900 miles.

I love the first gen's! My dad has a 71, no where near stock, he drag races it. Here are some pics, runs mid 10's in the 1/4 mile on motor, high 9s on nitrous. Thing is one fast boat. Don't have to many recent pics, as it has been broke for the last two years, but we just got it back together and plan to be at the track this weekend for the Super Chevy Show at Summit Raceway Park, as long as nothing happens. Today he was cruising on the highway and the front right tire tread ripped off, and beat up the fender pretty bad.

Heres what happened with the tire today.
