My 06 monte carlo lt3 will be 7 years old on march 31,since these cars now a days cost so much to fix i was wondering if its a good idea to buy more gm warrenty. heres the deal, i have 45,000 miles, the dealer told me since i have low miles i can get 3 more years 24,000 mile warrenty for a cost of $1979.50. Id pass on it, usually what it cost you is more than the issues that youll have in the time period, if you take care of your car and do schedualed mantiance than there is no reason for it

Not on the Monte. It's not as problematic as other cars.

I wish I got the extended warranty on my Grand Am though. The 3.4 litre engine in that thing was a piece of crap lemon. And cost me a fortune. $10,000 over 8 years. Really wish I had bought the extended warranty. Or gotten rid of the car sooner.

I would pass too. Save 2000 you could probably fix anything that might go wrong.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you, I have an after-market warranty and it's due to expire in April? I did have to replace a wheel bearing, which should have been repaired under the warranty but I didn't turn that in because from what I read, I would have had to take it back to where I bought it? I also want to replace my waterpump but I don't want to wait until it goes bad. It's not a Chevrolet warranty that I have so I think I may pass on it when it expires......

I had my car at the dealer back in oct. for flushing the cooling system, then this pass jan, i had them drop the transmission pan and change the filter & fluid. They found that 2 transmission cooler lines were leaking and i also had a very bad left front wheel bearing, so they fix that under my gm warrenty. So my warrenty that day save me $385. Yes, i do take very good care of my car oil changes every 3000 miles, but from time to time i do have fun with the car. By the way, on the 3.9 monte carlo i think the water pump on these cars are electric. So after saying that, i did go back to the dealership and i am cover till march 1, 2016. thanks to every ones input.
