Shock struts
Just finished the dreaded top end gasket replacements. Looks like everything is fine. Now I am going to do struts front and rear. Anyone have any comments on a new set of struts for a 2004 MC SS, no sc, 3.8l????? Suggestions?

A lot of guys and gals here use KYB.They are expensive and you just get the strut cartridge. Others go through O'Rielly's Auto and get complete struts. That's a new strut, spring and bearing put together so you only have to remove the 3 tower bolts and the 2 pin bolts at the bottom of the strut, take the old one out, put the new ones in.
I went to completestruts.com. They have no name struts for those of us who are on a budget. I got all 4 complete struts for just under $300. I must say, after having them in my cars for a year now, I am still very pleased with my suspension. O'Rielly's seems to have a good verity and good prices!
There may be other members with other suggestions, in the end It's all up to your taste!

Honestly, I haven't read any bad comments about any of the struts used by members here. And I have worked on my cars for 30 years. Back then, Monroe had a problem with longevity, but one of our members recently put them in his car. Still waiting to hear what he has to say about them.
