Default Road Trip Report -- 400 Miles + Sweet!

Took offin the tuned-up Monte and me and the wife headed-over to near Albany, NY in the 04 Monte which was a pleasure to drive. The Math ain't done yet but it looks like we got around 28 Miles per Gallon ... most of the trip was Highway with the Cruise set at 78 MPH. I put my foot in it a few times pushing close to 90 to pass a line of trucks and get-uip to where the traffic was thin enough to support the Monte running on the the robot.

Once set the Speedo needle didn't sag more than 1 or 2 MPH below the Set Cruise Speed and that included the extended climb up the highway and over the Berkshire Mountains.
Flawless.
The engine never missed a beat.
On the way back home,, today ... I ran it at 80 for a stretch and all it wanted was to go!

I'm a Happy Camper with this Monte.
Nice car to drive all day without anything to worry about at all.

I was amazed by how the Cruise Control maintained its SET Speed throughout the day. When we got-in with a line of cars making a little time ... I locked-in 78 MPH. The Speedo Needle didn't move off 78 for most of the afternoon. Including going up some grades whenn you'd expect to lose a little speed because of gravity working on the load. Didn't happen!
All it did was give me a little more power to compensate for the hill and it stayed locked-on the Set Speed.

I stopped to walk the dog and get coffee for us and then joined traffic once again. Coming out of the Rest Area and getting up-to-speed was a thrill. That V6 makes all the power I need at the moment ... U-Band and all.

I just hope to keep it running this well for the time I am the prime Monte Carlo Commander and make these trips over to NY on a monthly basis or whenever there's some reason for us to need to go.

I've got it running really well. They probably ALL run this well; I don't know. But, whith her new Plugs and Spark Plug Wires helping to fire the V-6; there's no poking along. You can keep-up with everything hauling butt on the highway and the Civic is wound-out tight doing that, sometimes. I doubt if I was tach-ing 2,500 RPM's at any time during the day.
It was just loping-along with the traffic without me making any demands for big power or anything.

I'm sold on this Monte.
I'm really happy to have it.
I scored a pair of OEM Fog Lights and Brackets, today.
I'll have the "Whole-Look" in a week or so; after I get those lights ... in and wired-up right.
I'm going to have a Double-Pole - Center Off Switch and be able to have them come on with the High Beams, Low Beams or stay off ... as I need them.

I love taking trips in my Monte. This last year I took 2 trips to KY. About an 6 hour drive from where I live, and after those 6 hours, only stopped once for food, and felt great, not tired or sore, And the Monte ran like a champ. Road great, no noise and when I sat the cruise just sat back and let it do it's thing, also raced my G/F stepdad in there 05 Impala with the 3.8, from 75, blew him away, lol.
