Default Rear Wing Removal.

Hello guys, I'm having a little problem. Just how much horsepower will I loose if I remove my rear wing? Okay, okay just playing about that part.[8D] Seriously though I'm tired of wiping down my trunk everytime I wash and get my car waxed because the wing holds water after a wash. I want to remove it all together and rid the mess it leaves on the lower part of my trunk. It always leaves these nasty white drip lines and my car is black so it really shows and looks yucky. Basically what I really want to know is how hard is it to remove and what should I use to fill the holes in afterwards, or do you guys even reccomend it?

It will take a repaint job, or, you can try to locate a lid without holes, used, and maybe even in black, as it's a popular color. You could also look for a lid with the vertical spoiler, like mine. Still some water holding issues, tho, if that's what you are trying to eliminate.

do what I do... use an air compressor and blow the water out from under it...

I go around my whole car with it... all the seams, door handles, wheels/tires, grill, inside the gas filler door, etc etc...

that way there's a lot less water to dry off from the door jambs, under the trunk, under the hood, etc etc...

I use one of those leaf blowers and it removes all the water without having to use a drying towel. then you can go and wax it without having to wait to you get it all outfrom the cracks in the door jams..everyone has there own littles ways ...Thats mine....

i don't think your car would look right at all without that spoiler... i say take the good with the bad.

(my $0.02 worth)

The '00 - '07 Montes look down right ugly without a rear spoiler.

One thing you could try. Clear silicone the entire bottom edge of the spoiler. This will mean removing then re-installing the spoiler to get to the bottom edge but the silicone will prevent water and dirt from getting under the spoiler.

I did it to the rear spolier on my '86 LS Monte year ago. It's still holding up just fine.

I agree with rj. 2000 up Montes don't look right without a spoiler.
There's a few around town here, and the back end looks weird withouta spoiler.

Hey if spoilers add 50 horses, I need to get on ebay, buy 4 or 5 more spoilers, and bolt 'em on. [sm=icon_rofl.gif]
