There's an extension tube that extends the oil area that was on all the vehicles with the covers

3400 or 3800?

The 3800 Series II uses the extention Mitch mentioned. I didn't think the 3400 used an engine cover. Or are you referring to the 3400 in the 5th gen Montes?

Never mind. I just looked at Mitch's pictures. The 3400 does use an engine cover. Mitch is correct. I was wrong.

yah its the 3400 engine cover. just bought it and it is not exactly fitting over the engine. its for the same engine the tubing just seems to be in the way.

If I understand your question... On my 3800, I simply grab that extension tube underneath the oil cap and twist about 1/4 turn counterclockwise. It pops out, the cover goes on/off, then I screw the extension tube back in. The base of the tube holds the front of the cover in place. Not sure if the 3400 is the same.

so what your saying is that i should be able to extend my existing oil cap to compensate for the extra space in between the oil cap threads and the engine?

What confused me was the engine you have. I thought you had the 3400 engine like in this picture below. Which doesn't have an engine cover. I'm not used to seeing it with a cover on it.
