I own an 06 Monte Carlo ltz. It is the 3.9l v6 variety. As of the last month I would randomly have issues with starting the car and the read out saying security. I push the unlock button on the alarm remote and all is fine. Tonight however I put the key in the ignition, turned it forward and my car went black. Zero lights or readout of any sort. To make matters worse I also could not get my key out of the ignition. I tried depressing the shifter button but that was locked as well. After sitting there for about 5 minutes waiting for my wife to come pick me up the car came to life. Read outs turned on, dome light lit up, cd changer started shuffling, car began beeping, and everything was flashing on and off. During this I hit the unlock button again on the car alarm remote and the car released my keys. I had to manually lock my car and As I was leaving the dash readout was still blinking. What is wrong with my car??!!!!

 

Hello and welcome to the forum. What do you know about your Monte's battery condition? It could be the culprit as the symptoms you describe sound like a weakened and old battery to me.
