this poor monte in a junk yard :(

anyone remember this car? this was tunerlover's (Dan) car. Him and i went to tech school together in Illinois. i'm not sure if he was on MCF but he was a regular at mymonte. last december i believe is when he hit a pretty big deer and damaged the car pretty good.

actually it wasn't too bad. i moved back home to minnesota after i graduated school, and i had a buddy here who was looking for a project car and he always liked my old 95 LS i had. and i remembered that dan told me he was going to sell his monte. I told my buddy about it and he was really excited. he bought it from dan for 1200 bucks. i drove his *** back to chicago which is 400 miles from minnesota. we bring the car back and start cleaning it up and doing a couple little things here and there.
this is after i cleaned the interior up for him.

got a new headlight and painted rims.

my buddy joined mymonte under the screen name rockinmonte. hardly ever came on or did anything. but was looking all the time for parts and other things for it.
i go to the junkyard today after hearing rumors that he took it there because he had no where to put it and was let down because he couldn't afford to fix it right away. i also needed a few things for my trans am and monte. i went through almost the whole yard until i found it.

everything was completely gutted. only thing that was there was what you see on the outside. motor and trans are gone, and interior is obviously completely gone. i did take the black headlight housing though.
i think i cared more for this car than he ever did. and he goes and does this behind my back. he used a lame excuse too saying that his dad found out he had it. so you bring it to a junk yard? wow. he only got 250 bucks for it too.
i dont understand either if the project they get like that gen monte to anouther type. they get rid of it do to lack of time and was forced in to take it to the junk yard. there is alot of places where he could have gotten a new or used fender and front bumper. granted it would be mixed matched paint it would be a pretty reliable daily till it could be repainted it is sad that it went to a junk yard

WOW! So he pays $1200 for it, you do some clean up.... Interior looked fan-flippin'-tastic, needed to fix the front quarter..... Sounds like the car was otherwise clean, no mechanical problems.... And he takes it to a junk yard and gets $200 for it.....
I look at those pics and think TWO things:
A. - You probably could have sold it out right and made more back.
B. - You could have probably parted it out and made more back.
I have an '84 Camaro in my garage as a project. If I were EVER to decide to dump it, I'm going to try options A and B first, junk yard WAY last.

and the other sad part was that the monte was modded. nothing crazy, but it had some minor modifications to it and it made a difference on the performance of the car.
