This weekend my poor 2005MonteCarlo SS was Broken into and attemped theft.
On sunday morning some one had broken into my car and the stock alarm went off i ran out and only to find my door handle cracked and locked was tamperd..... Make my police report that day.
Today at 9:15ish I went to my car to get insurance papers to call autopack(insurance).. as i opend the door the dash was ripped off, ignition was smashed and The leather was cut both driver and passanger seats. I cant belive it they came back the next day to FINISH the job and they still never get it...

called auto pack and they tell me i have to make 2 claim. one for each day.. So day 1 I have to pay my deducable 200$ and for todays actions My dedutable is waved :S
I can't belive this......

1 question. Why did the alarm not go off 2nd time? is their a special way you lock car to set alarm?? When i leave my car I have a habbit of hittin the Lock button on the door 2x. Never use the phob unless unlocking..???

Edited: Well Just got my Car back Today And what A WAIT. But Really Insurance company Is Retarted here!! I Have to pay 20% of My front Leather seats Becase they HAD TO PUT BRAND NEW LEATHER IN and since thier was VARY Little Wear in the seats They CHARGED ME 20% A TOTAL of 600$ extra OUTTA MY POCKET!!! I already had to pay for 2 deducables.. and Of course No one Tells me this I FIND OUT THE DAY I PICK MY CAR Up..
I DONT SEE how I was supose to Come up with 600$ in a day! soo body shop is giving me 2 weeks to come up with the cash.

 

thats ****ty man. good thing that your insurance is covering it.

90% of the time thefts are an inside job, unless you flaunt your **** to everyone all day everyday.

not sure about the alarm. i didn't know they were standard. i know we have a ignition theft deterrent system. maybe that went off when they pulled the dash.

That's horrible. I know to enable the alarm you have to make sure you press the lock button on your remote twice, so your car honks. I'd let it sit out there and get a webcam to hook up to your PC and put it out the window and record it all night. Setup a trap.

 

I just read through a thread on Tri-5.com a guy posted a new way thieves break in to your vehicle. They use a small punch and punch a hole right below the lock cylinder in the door. They slip a wire in and unlock the door using the lock. So the alarm won't go off. Some even re-lock the door so you won't be any the wiser to their actions. Not till you start missing stuff.

or mine........ ! I had a ALPINE receiver stolen from my 85 Cav.
Type 10 and they not only stole it but they tore up my console
and stole my Mom's 79 Malibu......

Seriously though, I thought my car was secure by simply pressing the lock button once ? Better read my owners manuel..
Just make sure that your Ins. Co. will follow through for you.
Is there a theft / vandalism proof car alarm out there ?

 

That totally sucks. Ya I push my lock button on my fob 2xs.

 

I like to be annoying so I push mine a lot more! lol

 

If you push it 3x you enable your air bags to deploy on the robber.

If you push it 4x you enable auto flat tires

and if you push it 5x, the side spikes come out from the downpipe to take out ankles.

 

I push it 6x so the car will explode, killing the moron stealing my car.
