Here is my beast of a daily driver
Sadly she is very rusty :-( But shes still on the road and not in a junkyard somewhere or turned into a derby car so shes got a lot going for her I guess lol...

Needs a lot of body panels, obviously. What is the main difference between NOS parts and reproduction parts. I'm guessing the repro parts are made out of cheap thin metal like on most newer vehicles instead of the thick durable steel?

Not too bad. You should get a OPG catalog. 1970-1977 Monte Carlo Restoration Parts Catalog | OPGI.com My Father in law bought stuff for his cutlass from them and it was good quality stuff. The steel panels are listed as OEM quality replacements.

It's got a 305 in it.

 

The frame and everything underneath is good and yeah it has the 305 in it.

Believe it or not that is me with the same car about 10 years ago it makes me sad to see that it went downhill so badly :-(

 

nos is made by original manufacturer. Reproduction is made by anyone. Thing to look for is if it says factory thickness steel and US steel stay away from china steel. Both may have fitment probs but NOS is way to go imo.

 

WOW .. Those pictures bring back a lot of memories of our 77. Those rubber wheels you have in the back were always leaking air. Ours had the 350 4 bbl. I remeber trying to change spark plugs on that beast. The one closest to the firewall on the pass side was a bear to get to. Took that Monte from just outside Detroit and drove to Phoenix with it. But that was back in 1980 when gas was a lot cheaper. Interior looks pretty good. Good luck with your project
