Ontar changes
Comcast is such a ripoff...I personally would never go with them. They charge way too much. I have another cable tv provider and it's digital and they charge almost 1/2 of what Comcast quoted me.
I hope when these 'companies' do these changes that they don't loose too many customers or they'll be out of business.

Looked into but
Satellite is not good enough for what I need.
Plus just until recent times satellite you had to pay for local channels
Cable might cost a little more but for internet needs its faster and way better then satellite

I work at Charter Communications, and while I am very not happy with Comcast's tactics they are pulling on us to pay more, they might have a point on going all digital.
The nickel tour is that satalite is advertising left and right on all the HD channels available. (See Back to the Future commercials.) Cable offers 3 flavors: analog, digital and HD. Analog takes up an incredible amount of bandwidth. You can put in 2 HD signals for every analog you remove. You can get 3-4 digital channels in the same space.
Now for Cable to compete with satalite we have to remove analog and switch to either HD or digital. Everything needs to be HD or backward compatable by 2009 which is only 1 3/4 years away.
I believe Comcast is ramping up to be prepared to launch HD or at least backward compatible digital in all houses by then. If they force everyone to get a box on each TV, they won't need to broadcast the analog channels and use all that freed up bandwidth for HD channels.
