6th Gen ('00-'05): Newest Addition -2005 Supercharged-
What's going on guys?
Wanted to take a minute and share my newest project. Stumbled into this thing accidentally, pretty funny story!
I had been browsing Copart looking for a clean shell to build a RWD LSx powered Monte for the shop. I came across a relatively clean looking 2005 that was listed as Mechanical Damage, Rear Damage and Salvage Title. There was no mileage listed, and the photo of the odometer was blank...so I simply assumed that the car was a flood recovery or something to that effect. I placed a bid a few weeks before the car hit the auction block, and I honestly forgot all about it. Fast forward to last Friday, and I received an email confirming that I was the winning bidder.
This is the car:
CHEV MONTE CARL
Well, I got the car back to the shop yesterday, and it looks like I lucked out lol. The reason it was listed as "mechanical" is because it couldn't be started since it was missing a battery. Turns out the car was actually a recovered theft and runs and drives perfectly! The kicker....it only has 23k Miles! The crazy part is I won the car for 594.00 after fees!

The only damage on the car is a dent on the rear quarter panel. I have it scheduled to be repaired next week. This one is a little too clean to cut up haha.

I think the game plan for this one is to use it as a platform to develop a few new parts, so expect to see me around a little more often

Yes, in MA there is no Salvage inspection if it is over 10 years. This one falls into a grey area because it was technically "salvaged" before it was 10 years old, so I might need to go through the state police inspection. But that's not big deal.

Looks nice!
FYI - Do a little proof on the mileage. I believe the BCM may store the mileage, could be worth checking or see what the mileage was on any car inspections.
Reason I say that is we had a member who thought he was driving a killer clean and low miles car, gets in a fender/bender, insurance had proof that it was around/over 200K miles and totaled his Monte as a result (a previous owner did a cluster switcheroo). Just piece of mind.
