Default New Owner. Hopefully.

Hello everyone.

I finally am getting the car i've always wanted, not sure why I have always wanted a Monte Carlo but i have for like 5 years now.

But, I finally found one, a 2006 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged, Dark Grey exterior, its amazing looking...

70,000 Miles. Clean.

But, heres the downside, I'm going to test drive it, and I wanted to know what to be looking for other than, dented oil pan, loose belts, all electronics work.

Because, I'm seeing this vehicle on NADA/KBB being worth like 11,000.
And the car is being sold for 6,500, I asked why they are selling so cheap and they said because he doesn't have a license and wants a truck, they have owned it for 4 years and there has been 2 other owners. (crazy because its like 5 years old, guess ill see the title soon).

Anyways, all advice for things to really look for would be awesome, I for sure do not want to have a P.O.S in up in my hands.

Welcome to the Forum .. Post pics when you can.. I would like to see your 2006 Monte ?? Sounds Nice..

2006 Changes under the hood include a new 3.5-liter V6 with 211 hp and a 3.9-liter version that makes 240 hp (the same as last year's supercharged SS). The SS model's supercharged V6 has been dropped in favor of a 5.3-liter V8 with 303 hp and 323 lb-ft of torque. That's great and all, but with this much juice going to the Monte Carlo's front wheels, torque steer is inevitable. Even with this year's upgrades, the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a cruiser coupe that's more at home on the freeway than twisty mountain roads.

Hope the deal works out for ya! Seems odd that there's been that many owners and the reason for selling it so cheap. Who knows maybe it's just a good deal

With a deal that sweet I'd have a shop check it out. They may have done the dirty deed of swapping the odometer I only say that because they're selling so cheap.

No 2006 was stock supercharged, or aftermarket for that matter..

If it was an 05 SS then they came stock supercharged, anything 2000-04 could be N/A or S/C if it's a limited edition.

I'd say do your research, get a carfax done, something fishy is going on here...

Welcome to the Forum, and as suggested it does sound fishy and i'd do some reasearch before making a deal.

Oops on the mis-post, It was supposed to say 2005, lol. So everyone who replied wondering if i had done the research, I have, just a mis-type.

I was just wondering what all i need to look for, so when i go look at it ill have a better idea, the asking price is just way low.

BUT, heres the up side, it did get hit, on the back left side, but was professional fixed, so we will see how clean that is. BUT, according to KBB, cars with salvage titles loose half the value or around, so maybe i can even talk it lower than 6,500 so if there is anything wrong, i have fixing money.

Ahh

If it has been hit I would definitely talk them down or at least try to, also ask them if you can take it to a shop that you know and trust and have them check it out, inside and out. You want to make sure that rear end is straight and won't have alignment issues. You also want to make sure it was actually done by a professional and won't cause you any trouble in the future.

Let us know what you come up with
