The base 3800 s/chas 240 hp
Look for a used 06 LT3/LTZ with a 3.9, base hp is 242 (some dealers still have left over 06's)
but if you's looking for more HP, I would not recomend this as there is little to no aftermarket support for the 3.9L

Click on this link which is also on the upper right hand area of this forum under:

2006 Monte Carlo

It will tell you all the differences of the 06 models. The trim is nicer on the SS and the engine compartment is more heavy duty for the larger engine. Otherwise, the cars are similar.

I believe the only differences in the 07 models is the "turn by turn" driving directions from ONStar.

Also, if you are looking for a good deal for an N/A engine, the 3900 can't be beat.

And the warranties are good up to 39k miles on a certified used car.

I don't know about the 3LT w/LTZ pacakage but the LTZ has leather seats like the SS.

I tell people my LTZ has everything but the kitchen sink and it's on back order.

or you can test drive a 3900. They have some neck snapping power. 242hp. Only came in 06 tho. Dont know if thats what your lookin for or not. I picked mine up for $13,500 and still has factory warranty on it, and its GM certified, with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

That what I used to think, but someone reminded me that the sunroof isn't standard equipment.
