I am interested in buying a 1980'sMonte Carlo for a relatively cheap price. I don’t need anything great, but I don’t want to be spending a fortune just to keep it running. Here are some cars in my area. What do you guys think:

I would defiantly put in a ratchet shifter similar to this:

What ells would I need to buy to install this? As you can probably tell I do not have much experience. Thanks for the help.

Both Montes look decent. You can probably guess the SS has had the ##$% ran out of it.
If you decide to buy either car, besides the shifter you'll need a cable to hook from the shifter to the transmission. There will also be a bracket that attaches at the transmission end of the cable so the cable can be attached to the transmission and operate it.
I didn't see this mentioned, but if the white Monte is column shifted instead of floor shifted, it can be a pain making a floor shifter work in it.
