Good luck on the purchase. talk him down on this one. I would read the situation him gettin two thirds the way thru the restoration fallen on hard times and needs cash...He's done the engine most likely the trans as well and the exterior paint nothing to the interior????? he's selling because he needs cash....

I actually talked the guy down from 4000. I looked up the NADA value for it and im actualy getting it for cheaper. And Im pretty sure it was a 350, it was his project car but the wife is makin him get rid of it. Love that hood too.

edit: yup he needs cash, i feel for the guy too its a really nice monte, and the interior aint bad just a couple cracks in the dash and the seats are a bit faded. so yeah just a little lovin is all lol.

thats a very nice buy IMO, gotta remember the rebuild cost at least $500, paint about $700 for something halfway decent, hood's mabe $300, trans rebuild could be another $500, tires well theres another $200.... im just pulling these figures outta what i know, ususally stuff is quite a bit more. the interiors are always falling apart on 80's G body cars, especially headliners. you really lucked out if the car has buckets & a console, fairly hard to find stuff.

idk. i would def ask for receipts for the machine work and what not and make sure its a 350. its only got 500 miles on the rebuild he shouldnt have thrown them away already. i did mine a few years back and still have receipts. i have like 12000 in receipts in a folder. also i would find out what he considers a rebuild. was it a spray can and degreasing? what cam is in it? <- (that ones important its always good to know your cam specs for future reference.) does it have factory or after market heads? aluminum intake? what carb? if he did the tranny what converters in it? how long has he had the car? did he buy it with the motor or did he put it in? you want as much info as possible. you dont want to have any surprises. i speak from experience with bad purchases of hotrods that looked nice and then later on i found out that there was a bunch of mutants turning wrenches on it for 30yrs and everything was junk and a lie. sometimes you see a car and u fall in love with it and you dont think to look at the fluids or actually drive it or start it up when its cold and see if it smokes like a pig or check it for rotting floors or frame damage. anyway if hes that hurt for cash then you should haggle him down. floundering project cars are a dime a dozen now a days. everyones unemployed and needs cash. money talks and im sure if you went there with 2800 in cash hed take it. sorry to be long winded just tryin to look out.
