how much money would you estimate youve dropped into it?
lol, way too much...

I hate to think what the grand total is for the car....

-the grand prix donor car was $1500 (back before L67 powertrains were readily available)
-the heads were almost $2k
-the whipple setup will end up almost $3k with the new YT parts
-pistons were almost $1k
-machine shop work was about $1k
and there is still the bulk of the parts list to go

I think we can see where this is going... lol I'll leave it at 'too much'

I'm sure I could've got a used C5 for the price of mods + the car's stock value, but then I wouldn't have nearly the pride of ownership- you know? I like being able to pull up somewhere and tell people that I did the vast majority of the work myself (obviously I had to farm out the machine shop work since those machines are $10k+ each for some of the operations).

Thanks for the bump- didn't realize how many pix I had posted in a single thread- hope nobody tried looking at this on dial up.

It is fun posting up on a new forum where very few people know me- and just saying my monte has 'just a few mods'- then they ask what they are, and I post up the big list.

Suppose I may as well add more fuel to the fire...

Here is my new front brake setup:

One of my favorite parts- easy pad swaps:

14 inches (will be nice not having to worry about fitting slicks up front anymore)

Yes, from a 04-07 CTS-V, I picked these up off ebay from a guy that had bought them for another project, but had got laid off and had to sell them. I paid a little over $200 for them loaded with pads (although I hear the pads are crazy dusty, just like my GXP- but I'll give them a shot). The stupid V logo's are definitely going to go (I personally prefer solid color calipers with no logos or words), I've just been trying to think of a color for them. I don't think the silver will stick out very well, especially behind chrome wheels- but I also am not too crazy about going bright red like every other performance application. The nice thing about them is a lot of other performance cars use them, so there are plenty of pad options.

Obviously the CTS-V rotors don't work since those are 6 lug, but these should do fine for now. I got them for a like $120 for the pair new from GM. The only thing I don't like is how crazy heavy they are (its unbelievable when you're used to holding 10 and 11 inch rotors)- I'd like to go with a 2 piece setup down the road with an aluminum center section to keep the weight down- but you're talking at least $800 for a 2 piece rotor in this size, so I'm gonna stick with these for now.
