My 07 is finally here
Well, the car finally arrived at the dealership on Tuesday Jan. 9/07. She looks pretty nice so far. They are getting it ready and I had hoped to take delivery today. (The weather here is supposed to be nice today but total crap for the next few days)
Anyway, as expected, we have run into problems. I ordered the "Dealer Installed" accessory wheels as part of the deal. I was a little nervous that there would be some screw-up so I pushed them to order the wheels well in advance, to be sure everything we needed would be there when the time came. They didn't know if the center caps came with the wheels, the wheels were a "drop-ship" item which meant it would take about 5 days instead of the usual overnight delivery, etc. etc. In other words I tried to avoid any delays.
Well guess what?? The valve stems in the original wheels that came with the newcar (They have the tire pressure monitor thingys attached to them) cannot be switched to the new wheels, even though the new wheels are the GM accessory wheels, not an aftermarket job. After all the so-called experts at the dealership spent about 2 hours looking up parts schematics, service bulletins etc. they have come to the conclusion that I now have to buy some sort of "kit" which allows the pressure sensors to be swapped over to the new wheels. Thiskit apparently is about $8.00 per wheel. Originally they told me I needed to buy new sensors at $86ea. to make the wheels work. After I told them what they could do with their wheels they dug further and now decided the $8per wheel kit will work. I have my doubts, it is incredible how DUMB these people are. $2100 for GM accessory wheels, which are advertised in the vehicle brochure, and the damn dealer has no ideawhat is needed to install them.
To really put the icing on the cake, non of these kits are available in the Canadian partswarehouse, and they have to be brought in from the US.
Hail to "Mr. Goodwrench"wow, I really get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing he's on the job.
What a load of SH...........T

well, i guess its a good thing they finally got your car, but it sucks that they screwed up on the wheels, you'd thing that they would know this stuff considering its their job to know it when they sell the vehicle...stupid! this is why i can't stand dealing with the dealership, most of the time they dont know anything, except for what their computer tells them, and they try to put everything imaginable on to fix the problem and start with the most expensive part without knowing whats wrong first.
so know i know what all the dubs i've been selling have that extra valve stem spot for on the back of the wheel, there's a sensor back there, i never new why the wheels always had 2 valve stems on each wheel...but now i do
do you have any pics of the car yet??? what didyou order if you dont have pics yet??
do you have any pics of the wheels you ordered, i'm curious to know what they put on these monte's for aftermarket wheels

Hi Bill,It's great that your new Monte arrived, but I also would besuper pissed that the dealer didn't have their zhit 2-gether : (Patience is such a Virtue, but when U are giving up a lot$ $ $ $ to get what your ordered & it doesn't arriveas your ordered, then you have a good reasonto be upset.I don't think U should have to pay for the adjustmentsand should be compensated for your troubles.GM dealers better start giving the service that customers demandorthey will suffer the lose of business.Bill, hope to see pictures soon. Don't have pics yet, it's sitting on the hoist at the dealership with no wheels on it at all. Didn't want to show it like that.
The car is an 07 SS, Black Amethyst, with the silverstone ground effects, Titanium Leather interior.
The wheels are what they call 18" chromed aluminum 5 triangular spoke. They are shown in all the Monte/Impala brochures for 2006/2007. You can also check them out on the GM parts direct website under "Optional Accessories" for the 06/07 Montes.
I will post pictures when its done.....whenever they figure out the damn wheel situation. You are exactly right, the damn dealerships should know these things.

well good luck on this whole mess.
I feel your pain. i was suposed to have the SS floor mats in my car when i bought it. I never did get them to give me the set . they just refunded me the cash on teh contract so i didnt have to pay for it in the deal. thing they didnt know is the sales agent was being nice and threw them in on the deal of the car and never charged me for them. so i ended up gettign the car for less then i thought all of 100.00 lol

Thanks guys for you words of support. The more I buy cars, the more I am disillusioned by the whole damn process. I love cars, especially theones you take a second look at, but the crap one has to endure dealing with the boneheads that promote themselves as "Experts" (The dealerships) is making the process an experience not to look forward to. Ordering the vehicle, the anticipation during the waiting for it to arrive, scouring brochures for ideas how to make it special is the exciting part. Dealing with "Mr. Goodwrench" sure sucks the wind out of my sails.
Would you believe, on this wheel issue, sinceI was somewhat skeptical of my dealerships knowledge in the first place, I called 2 other larger dealers and was eventually put on with their "Service Gurus" and both gave an off the cuff answer saying "no problem, if it's a GM wheel you can simply swap the required parts from the factory wheels." In other words more BS. Their asses should be fired. If they worked for me they would be.

honestly i have bought three new cars in my life. the monte, the neon the wife has now (we are trying to sell) and also a truck i purchased threw a frend of the family .
other then the truck i have had nothing but bad experinces with dealers. the dealer that sold the monte to me was great. but they were a small dealer in a small tow where every one knew each other.
but thier service dept. was willign to kill them selves to fix the car.
But honesty i refuse to purchase another new car, i will get one after a year or two adn find one that is in real good shape from a privet owner. at least then i expect to have to figure it out on my own.
then dealing with the idiots here on her car adn mine i have just gotten to the point that i would not want to even think of getting another new cat from a dealership.
the price you pay for a car you would think that htey would understand this is not becuse we have got to pay for their mistreatment but becuse we like the produc we are seeing and would liek one of our own.
but with everythig from quality of the car parts to the quality of the sales folks i would rather build a camaro out of a box of parts and drive it at least it is done by myself or by those i can pick and willing to trust to put the work in to the car. and things like wheels were thought of so far out that if there was a issue with them we would have knowen about it.
now in defence of the dealerships. I know from experince that some of them will not know anything untill they run acrosse dthe issues them selves. so when you called thame and asked thsi is most likely wha they were told or what is said in the books and what they have learnd. in theroy the parts should ahve fit with out a hitch.
Im truly sorry you have had to deal with the incompatance of a dealer ship. but the good news is you have helped alot of folks out :-)
now go tell them to get your chit togeather and let you drive that thing home LOL

Sorry to hear of the stupid-ness of the car dealer. Don't these people get it you deal with them because you want expert advice?
Don't let this incident get you down.
We all run into morons all throughout our lives. Show them you're smarter by not giving in to their level of stupidness.
You've got asuper new car. When you get it out of their hands, drive the k-rap out of it. [8D]
Show everyone what acool new car you own (and they don't).
