I had a similar issue but my window wouldnt go up or down. I bought a switch from here:
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/catalog/frameset.cfm
-Choose make and model and year.
-Choose "Door" then chose "interior trim" and to the right you will see window switch.
-Should be around $12 for the switch NEW.
Works fine now.

Sounds like it may have just snapped off the track. But you won't know for sure until you open it up and take a look at everything.
Go around your door and find all the screws, unscrew them. I forget all the positions since I'm not looking at my door right now. Then carefully pry the bottom and sides out (they have small plastic clips holding them on be careful not to break them) and then the top part of the door is actually held on by metal hooks, so you just need to push/pull UP and the hooks will lift off.
