Did the headlights change from the square to a circle in all 73's? Or is that costume work?

 

1970-1975 Monte Carlo's had the single round headlights, 76-77 Had the dual stacked rectangular headlights, 1978-1979 had the single rectangular headlights and the 80-88 Monte's had the dual side-by-side rectangular headlights.

There have been instances where people have put the 73-75 headlights and grills on the 76/77 Monte's and one instance that I know of where someone put 76/77 headlights on a '74.

 

I always thought the dual stacked rectangular headlights looked kind of alien-ish. I like the side by side look ok. Just the verticly stacked look seemed kind of odd.

A 70-72 Monte (or a mutt, as the owner put it)

that's a 72 monte. the turn signal lights on 72's are beside the grille. on 71's, the lights are in the bumper. that bumper is from a 71. the trim on the side is missing, sometimes owners take that off for performance monte's. he also added a passenger-side mirror, which some have and some don't.
