Default Monte Pickup

Found this custom Monte pickup in Google images.

It's an'04 LS customized into a El Camino looking pickup.

Sold at Barrett-Jackson in '06 for 21K+.

What do you think?

I saw a similar conversion a few years ago, I think they said it was a Holden conversion. Pretty cool but it needs some more pizzazz?? Ground effects maybe? Great find!!

I've seen this one before. It looks decent from the back, but the pics never show the angle I want to see. The car is probably ridiculously un-functional, having scrapped the back seat and trunk but failing to really gain a truck bed.

I liked El Caminos and wished they'd brought those back. I've seen some get truck conversions on Caprice Classics and Buick Roadmaster Wagons. The Monte Carlo would seem a decent fit (for a car newer than those models), but I think it needs to be longer.

I agree other conversions are much sportier, but I gotta' give the guy credit for the smoothness of how they blended the body styling. That's a real art.

Here's an old thread I found from founding member "Space" on the Holden conversions:

Here's a few more articles about "Ute's"

Since I've always liked El Caminos, I like this "Monte Camino" too.

Found a couple more photos of it:

And just for comparison, a couple photos of the stillborn Pontiac G8 Ute version that was in the works before the big GM shake-up of 2009:

Man, the Australians got some really fookin' good genuine GM stuff, and we didn't...
