i am completely new to the montes in fact i've never even been in one, so i was thinking the 2004 ss supercharged or the 06 v8. the 04 is far less money but are the new ones that far superier? besides speed are they much different in ride quility,build,handeling,ect? do the 04s feel pretty quick? cosmetic wise the 2 models look a little different but not to much, of course i haven't seen them side by side yet. thanks.

 

i personally dont know if there's a huge difference in speed from the 3.8 supercharged to the v8, because i'm almost positive when i drove that impalla ss v8 it was about the same as my monte, and i have the supercharged 3.8

the 3.8 can easily be modded right now too

i think if your looking for something a lot of people dont have go the v8, because there's not as many of those as there are the 00-05 monte's.

it would be a tough choice, the v8's a v8 and nothing beats having a v8 but thats supercharged 3.8 is fast too, guess it just comes down to how much you wanna spend

 

Then there is always the 3.9!. This sounds like a good post for space to answer. With all the specs, prices, etc. lol

 

here's my opinion. i think if its possible.. find a dealership you're comfortable with.. or even a dealer you don't want to buy from and ask to test drive an ss (both supercharged and the 06). i test drove the 07 ss today. I loved it. keep in mind this is coming froma current 3400 owner, but former 96 camaro z28 owner. That thing moves. no hesitating at all when you put your foot on the gas.. it responds. And that's without any mods at all. Honestly i'm planning on getting a used 06-07 ss then hoping by the time i pay that thing off they'll have enough mods for it. The only thing you need right away anyway is the K&N air filter.believe me the 07 ssis a whole 'nother beast. Chevy did right by this car. Even though it was rear wheel, i felt like i was back in that z28.

With the right mod's on her 270 hp should be easy to get

 

yah but dont forget with a couple little mods the 3.8 supercharged can hit 300 hp easilly, infact once i get my pulley installed if it ever happens thats where i'll be

 

I'm already pushing over 310 HP with my mods below. Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll have an intercooler and custom tuning to raise it higher.

 

I had a 3.8 SC and now have an 06 with the 3.9 and Mmwrench I can tell you that a 3.9 will not give a 3.8 a run for the money. The 3.8 is far faster off the line and builds speed much more quickly than a 3.9.

 

I've had all 3, a 200hp, 240hpS/C and now the 5.3. I don't care what mods are done, the power and sound of the 5.3 is second to none. I have never driven a 3.8 S/C with any mods, but I just can't imagine a 6 cyl outpulling that V8. Off the line, the V8 is scary fast. You wouldn't want to let anyone drive it that wasn't ready for it.
