Mass air flow problems
Hello, I am having problems with my 2001 Monte SS. I had a code for a bad mass air flow sensor so I bought a Walker unit and it lasted 2 weeks then went bad so I bought a new one from autozone it is a Valuecraft unit and it cost $129 with a lifetime warranty and it lasted 3 weeks and went bad. I disconnected it and it runs but poor gas mileage. I have had it at a dealer and said the throttle body is bad which I cleaned it and put a new fuel filter and throttle pos. Sensor on and same result. Help??
So I picked up the car and it was idling at 3k had to unplug idle speed sensor. I am certain the tech installed it wrong. So he also says the purge valve is bad and the fuel regulator is leaking and there is a code for the charcoal canister. Says I need to fix the smell problems before he can diag the mass airflow problem. I will keep you all updated
I am dealing with this issue wht02monte on my brothers 03 grand prix. Bringing to a shop tomorrow ill keep you posted.
Ok Thanks the original problem was blamed on a bad egr because there was a code in for that. After the corner repair shop stuck it to me for that and it didn't solve the problem they said the mass airflow was bad and tried to charge me 250 I bought a Walker replacement for 50 bucks them it failed 2 weeks later so I bought a Walker replacement for 129 with a lifetime warranty. It lasted 2 weeks and the same problems occurred so I unplugged the mas air sensor and it ran ok. That's when I took it the dealer and they gave me a list of little things to fix like the purge valve and the fuel regulator was leaking and the throttle body is bad oh and the vent solenoid is bad too. All was fine until the MAF crapped out and went run unless U unplug it I ordered a few parts and I will keep you updated too
Dropped car off tonight , preliminary diagnosis is the TPS is giving all kinds off different readings of the percentage the throttle is open even though at idle. He thinks it's the PCM but will check more tomorrow after he check the wiring.
