The computer has an order of sensors that it goes through, I suppose window washer fluid could be one of them. I know on my car if you leave the fuel cap off and the computer detects it, even if you put it back on, the light won't go back off. You'll have to drive a couple of hundred miles sometimes before the computer sends a signal nad realizes it has a fuel cap again and shuts hte light off. Just give it time!

You can d/c your battery for a few minutes and reset the PCM and the light should go out. If the light doesn't go out, you could have a sensor that has gone bad

Its should go out instantly when you fill it with fluid. Both the light in my Monte, and the Bonneville go out as soon as you fill it with fluid, just like the gas light goes out as soon as you put gas in the car.

So I would lean towards you having a bad sensor.

I agree. With Duane's gas cap being off the computer recognizes it as an evap leak. Due to obd II standards, the light will not go off until the car has been taken thru 2 complete drive cycles and the leak has not been detected. Only then will it shut the light off

I think it's a ridiculous waste of weight in the car anyway!! If you hit the button and the windshield fluid doesn't squirt out, then there must not be any! Not hard to figure out.

A bad sensor makes sense though.
