Default Longest time between tune-ups

Just out of curiosity, how long have you guys went without a tune-up? My 06 LT 3.9 is just north of 207K miles...and the water pump crapped out. Decided to get a tune-up. I told the mechanic I'd never gotten a tune-up (purchased the car Halloween of 06 with 180 miles) he looked at me in disbelief. Until he actually did the work. Shouldnt have been hard to belief, because anything that has went wrong he has fixed. Although I have never had anything major ever come up, everything else had been maintained i.e. brakes, oil, etc. Anyone go a long stretch without a tune-up?

Thumbs up Thanks for sharing - posting

Hi `Joe & thanks for posting/sharing
That's a great endorsement on how good/strong
the 3.5L & 3.9L Engines are
+ the 3.9L is a powerful power plant that fools a lot of
people with it's 242 HP

My friend `Space had a 06 and I was surprised how
good it ran & performed.
Wish you a million miles +
EnJoy, you have a great one 4-Sure

I took my wife's 2015 Traverse into a Chevy dealer for an oil change on Saturday (it was free, don't judge). At 25,000 miles they told me I needed a brake fluid flush. I actually LOL'ed and he looked at me funny. Once I realized he was being serious I questioned him on it. A one year old vehicle, 25k miles....brake fluid flush. I feel like they make this stuff up as they go along.

I just recently posted about the amazing 150,000 mile spark plugs that I replaced (https://montecarloforum.com/forum/ge...k-plugs-55877/). Car was not seriously running bad, just thought it was time to do it at 200,000.

So no tune-ups like the 72 Datsun truck needed. No points/condenser. No timing to set. No idle adjustments.

If I don't know when it was last done before I bought it, I generally go ahead and do it to be on the safe side. Didn't with the Titan, but I think I'm going to do it when I have the chance. Probably should do the timing belt as well just to be on the safe side as well.

Yeah most of them I've run into have been young kids, Im pretty sure the companies just tell them recommended numbers to add on sales. They will get what they can out of you thats for sure!
