Default K&N Air Filter

I have a 1987 SS and I noticed it has a stock air cleaner filter, is it worth installing a new K&N air filter in it's place and does it really make a diffrence?

I have definitely noticed the difference whenever I have swapped out an OEM air filter to any performance variety, even if it's just in my ears. I have recently switched over to Spectre. For the tight confines in my car, they have a greater variety. I would say that it's worth it.

i dont think its worth the 50 bucks to run it in the factory air cleaner. you could most probably get a open air cleaner with the k&n for a reasonable price though. i never felt a difference with it on my 80. maybe with the hole in the hood and the excelerator top at a decent rate of speed, but not just cruising about.
