Junkyard Monte
Hi my name is David, I just joined the forums today. I have wanted a Monte Carlo for awhile now. I just love the body style. But I am a Camaro guy. I always go to this junkyard around here, and see this
This Poor 70 has been sitting in this junkyard for 15+ years.
So I have always wanted this Monte every time I go to the junkyard.
But this has no steering suspension or drive train at all. The car has the casual rust on the quarters but has better pans and trunk than mine.
I found a 68 Pontiac tempest, that has been there awhile with a rebuilt frame suspension and rear end. They were asking 1000 for the Tempest and 800 ? for the Monte I was thinking about Getting the tempest for 1000 if they throw in the Monte, with the hopes that the frames would swap. They cars look similar to me.
I was hoping you guys would know.

Not sure. But that's a heck of a project. The monte looks like its been picked over pretty well. Looks like it would take a lot of time and money to get that thing back on the road. It's sad to say, but that monte may be best suited as a donor car now.

That shell doesnt look in to bad of condition for being a juckyard dog, and it might just be worth getting if at the right price.... you can always fine replacement pieces. Wherre is that located anyway?

Heyy! Welcome! That's perfect in my mind! That's like exactly what I want the condition of my 71 & 84 that I wanna restore to be in =) I think it would be awesome & very rewarding to build a car from the ground up

That Monte sure is a project. BUT........... if done right it will be one beatiful car.
The frames you asked about are probably similar. The mounting points are what you need to be concerned about. They may need to be changed for the Monte to set on the Pont frame.
I believe as long as they're both "A" body, they should be the same.
(look at the 4th gen G-body Montes. Olds, Buick, Pont all set on the same frame)
