For the front I put the jack either on one corner of the engine cradle or at the jack point just behind the front wheels. For the rear I just use the jack point just in front of the rear wheels.

There are other places you can use also, but first I gotta say, I always hear crunching and crackling kinda stuff when I do use the jack points. But you can also use the (A-arm is it called?) whatever the thing is that allows the front wheels to turn. And as for the rear, you can use the frame itself, I always do, that and a cinder block so I can get it up higher if I need to.

my 2005 monte carlo is barried in the mud. I'm not sure where to hook up a chain or strap to pull it out with my truck and it's starting to rain again. I'm very frustrated, please help!

I'd hook it to the big square metal cradle under the engine + transmission. Very substantial, structural, and plenty of space to wrap a strap around.

And dig out around the tires as much as possible so it can actually roll out / youre not basically lifting it out.
