Technically they are 6th gen. Which is silly when you think about it, isn't it....

Really, is there a build log or anything?

I don't know for sure. But I would have to think that GM beefed up the frame a little to handle the V8 in 06-07.

Obviously the engine mounts aren't going to line up. But would a 2000-2005 Monte be able to handle the extra torque of a V8?

Many people have come to the forum asking about converting a 2000-2005 Monte to a V8 RWD. Simply because they liked the styling of the 00-05 models. The general answer has always been that a RWD conversion is a lot more money, time, and work than it's worth.

As far as converting an 00-05 to a V8. I still think it's a matter of choice. Modify a 2000 to handle a V8? Which would involve a fair amount of electrical work as well as mechanical. Or is it better to just start with an 06-07 V8 SS, and convert the front clip (hood, fenders, headlights, and bumper/grill cover) to accept 00-05 body parts? The rest of the 06-07 Monte exterior is either the same, or close enough in appearance as a 2000 model. In my opinion anyway.

00-05 and 06-07 have the same internal structure, all the part numbers are the same for everything anyways and it would be way cheaper to buy a 06-07 over the v8 swap

If it was me, that's what I would do. If I want the look of a 2005, change the front clip.

If I did do a V8 swap I doubt I would do a RWD conversion. Not because of money but because of safety issues. And IF I did a V8 swap it would of course include many other mods to handle it.

I probably won't and instead just modify the 3800 since it's a legendary engine, but it's always been in the back of my mind...
