Installed some hood pins! I love them
Hey guys, I got around to installing some hood pins on the monte. I think they look great and wanted to practice how to put them on before I buy my cowl hood and what better practice to use than the stock steel one? haha I plan on getting a 3 or 4 inch harwood cowl hood after i do the 350 swap into it. For now Heres how it came out, Also, sorry for the absolute filth on the monte, shes been in the garage for about a month now on jack stands. I'm in the process of blasting off all the crap and "paint" from the bottom and doing a full rust prevention treatment and painting it with por 15.

Looks good.
When you go to a cowl hood, I assume fiberglass? Well it still use the existing hood hinges?
If so, if your car uses hood lift cylinders/shocks, you MIGHT need to swap them out when you do that. My '84 Camaro uses hood lift cylinders and when I went from a steel to fiberglass hood, I removed the lifts for fear of cracking the hood (takes less pressure to hold the lighter fiberglass hood then the steel on). I later found brand new shocks for my application.
Just something to keep aware of.
Again, great job with the hood pins!!

Yeah, unfortunately anything over 2" is made fiberglass. Even the 2.5's lol. Mine doesnt have a "pump" lever its just a spring coil that lifts the hood up. I've heard of the pressure that makes the hood buckle up from the stock springs so i'm going to buy low tension springs or put that prop rod in my garage to good use. thanks for the compliments guys. Keep em comin haha

MINNEEEE? Hahaha You clearly havent seen the close ups enzo LOL! well its not that bad, just needs a good wash and a wax and it'll look "good looking." I hate the 2". and im not sure the 3" is really my taste either. a nice 4" would be awesome!!
