Info on the car I would like to get
I'm sorry...I mis-read your 1st post...yea, I know the stang boys have the 5.0 but unfortantly their car is ligher but thats for another topic. Yea, if I get the car and raise the money, I would deff get a larger engine
how i would love to find me one of the turbo V-6 cars now a days LOL
Most didnt know they even had a turbo car let alone a Deisel fuled car to.
As far as to get it to turn those skins that is not to tuff.
Adjust the carb and do a good tune up opn it and also chang ethe filter in the tranny and add a B&M shift kit in there to help it out also.
also you can throw a new cam and lifters and intake and carb set up on it and it will make it breath a bit diffrently to.
But like you i actually didnt mind the 305 or even the 307 they were a solid boat anchor and ran good to untill someone for got to do the P.M. stuff on it and then they would go down hill fast.
Most unskilled folks cant tell if they are looking at the 350 or the 305-307 anyways So who cares unles syour tryign to go out as race the car and or hot rod it real hard the smaller motors save gas, save weights, run decent and are reliabel in most cases. And also if you take the 305 and add the hig out put cam from the 307 i belive it was with a set of heads off of the 307 they would run really pretty damed hard.
Also throw some gears int eh tail end it would make them act a bit better also

the B&M shift kit means it shoudl shift faster and a bit harder then the stock version of the car.
I fthey have it in there why did they chose to do it?
Some will do it to make it feel faster to them others do it so it will keep the tranny around longer.

Mickey,
The MonteSS board guys say by the time you sank the $$$ into your 305 doing all the work, you could have sank the same amount of $$$ into a 350 and had a better running engine in the end.
So throw the 305 in the trash pile and shove a 350 in to your '81-88 Monte.
Like I posted I happen to like the 305 in my '86 Monte. But then again I have cars with bigger engines in them so I get my HP fix that way.

I went to go see the car today and the frigging dude sold it on me...I called him to let him know I was on my way and 5 min later, he calls me back and says he was waiting for me when another guy came by asked about it and bought it...****ers...
yeah you can build a clone alot of the SS cars out there are actually clone cars also if you dont know what to look for you could buy one as a SS and find out it is not one.
But the are are the same body etc... just a diffrent trim pacage and front end
