If ya need a good laugh. . .
So a few months ago i was drivin to work and had my message center say that my oil level was low, didn't think much of it since i was planning on changing my oil in a couple hundred miles, thought maybe i put the 5qt jug in and just forgot to add that extra quart. Changed my oil and made sure to put a full 6 quarts in. . . here about a week ago (after about 2700 miles) my message center displays the same message. After reading alot on here about the LS4 i knew it was a common problem that starts around 30,000, and the blue beauty is just over 40,000. I figured i'd eventually just get the diablo tuner and turn dod off and that'd be my easy fix for that.
Anyways-- I got my 06 a year ago in February so i knew my gm certified warranty was up but wasn't sure about any of the other factory warranties, so Tuesday i called the gm dealership here in town to see if there was any warranty left on the car. . . turns out my power-train warranty is up on 5/5/11. i pretty much couldn't believe it. . . .took her in this morning to start an oil consumption test and make sure it's documented before tomorrow. I got a pretty good chuckle out of it so hopefully you did too. . .

haha..yea lets hope you fail..that would be nice since your warranty is pretty much up
edit: is the consumption problem common with all years of the LS4? even in like the 09 impala ss? jw if they ever did anything about it

Update!!
**Update**
Took the monte in yesterday and after 1,000 miles, she used about 1qt of oil so. . . .FAIL! They're gonna order the parts and gimme a call when they're ready. Said it's a good 2 day deal, so I'm pretty happy that it's all under warranty and getting fixed --for FREE!!!!, but it's 2 days without her, so i'm also kinda bummed. "bittersweet" i guess. Either way it's getting fixed and hopefully I can grab a tuner after the wedding and she'll be all 8 all the time and I won't have to worry about it again.

Hi `Jester,
Thanks for the update & I'm glad it covered by warrany, but I still believe that GM should supply a loaner car (free) when it's a flaw of their product
Keep us updated on the results & `if they took good care of your Monte while they are fixing the problem
Good Luck
