Default I cannot get lucky for Fog Lights.

The boneyard that sold me the lights off a Monte they were getting in ... called and said the car rear-ended something and all the front lights are shot. There I was thinking a box would be arriving soon and I could start installing and custom wiring ... No dice.

So, todays question for the Monte Crowd is this: Do you think I could squeeze a set of Hella FF-50's in those empty cut-out's where some kind of light belongs?

http://www.autobarn.net/helauxlam.html

They are Oval. Seem to be the right size to cram in there. I'm just wondering if I'll have a lot of cutting and fabricating to do ... to get lights instead of louvers on the front of my Monte. I don't want to even start unless I know that they are going in and won't need much more than some light touches with a Dremel Tool to give me some decent out-front, on-the-road ... extra light at night.

I love driving at night.
I love it better with bright light on-the-road!

Have you tried ebay for a set?

I see them listed on there all the time.

Those lights by themselves look great and would give you better light than the stockers with the #880 bulbs. But I'm wondering if the oval lights would look weird in a round hole.
Maybe try photoshopping them onto your car before buying them, to see what they would look like.

The holes in the 04 Bumper are Oval shaped.
The Hella light is about an inch oversize from the Stock hole.

I missed a set on eBay when I didn't check for a few days and somebody else did the "Buy it Now"

rick - before you get anything but stock fog lights, take a good look at the backside of your bumper and figure out how youre going to mount the lights.

mounting isthe #1 reason iadded stock lights, rather than aftermarket.

Whatever you do, don't buy autopia fog lights, they say they'll fit, but by the time you find out there's no way they will, you can't return them. By the way, if you wanna cut and hack some round 4"ers in your bumper, lemme know. I'll sell em to you cheap.

I'm waving my white flag on this Fog Light adventure. I guess the only thing to do is wait for my Pennie Jar to have enough change in there to buy a set of Factory Lights.
No way I'm going to do BLINGLIGHTS or AUTOTOPIA.
I want the road lit-up ... not the space inn the bumper.
A cluster of Light Emitting Diodes ain't doin' it for me, either!

Good thing come to those who wait.
I'm waiting.
Officially!
As of right now.
See ... I'm not even thinking about my front bumper anymore.
Or those louvers that look like they are there to keep-out mice!

Lol on the keep out mice!

I'd say go for it, but if you can't find stockers, try and find something of a similar size/shape in the aftermarket.

JC whitney has some from Pilot, that are 3.5" wide, and 2.25" deep. If the ratio is right, even if they're a bit on the small side it wouldn't be brain surgery to center them in the housings. I mean 60$ for a pair isn't bad.

They even have some Optronics for 17$!! looks like the perfect shape compared to stock, but I'm not so sure about the size, 2.25" wide, 2.125" in heigth ( this may include bracket )

at 17$ seems like it'd be worth the risk. A lot better than the 55$ I paid for my autopias that are sitting useless in a corner!

The problem is ... as previously stated in the Thread ... there ain't a lot of solid anything to fasten the light holding bracket to.
The end of the space where the OEM Lights fit isn't surrounded by much of anything.

I have to stop obsessing about those lights.
It's driving me nuts.
I hate looking at the front bumper and seeing them missing.
