nice man !! I have done 2 now and I have had a ton of fun I have not won anything yet but I love the questions and enjoy all the car people. I do think it is hard when a car show does not have any category for the newer gen cars that is something that you should look at the event before you go unless you are like me and it is not about the win as much as it is about the cool people and even cooler cars you get to see !!
Have fun !!

The easiest way to win is to be buddies with whoever is running hte show!!! One here in Oxford has had the same winners 3 years now... one of them is just an '04 Mustang convertible, and basically just looks like any other '04 Mustang. Meanwhile, there are like 200 other classics with a lot more work in them. Then the same '65 Chevy truck has won best of show for about 2 years now..... along with the cars in the car clubs in the area. Seems fishy to me!

I hate to say it but it does sound that way . It is 1 of the 2 reasons that I joined a car club #1 was to find shows and have access to some i would not be able to get into #2 was It never hurts to be the member of a car club when going to a event the car show main sponsor likes to have a club there because it guarantees a certain # of cars and some times they reward your group with a win because you club brought X amount of cars to there event

Default car shows

The best advice that I can tell anyone is to ....HAVE FUN !

Clean your car up really good, Use a clay bar ( if you want to ? ). Polish the car/truck with a good carnuba based polish ( Meguires Gold Class is great ). Vacum the interior, clean the dash & console. Clean your leather seats with a good leather cleaner ( Meguires ). Apply a Protectant to the dash and door panels and rocker panels. Clean you engine up real good
and just go over the car really good.
Clean the tires and exhaust tips
NEVER USE ARMOR-ALL. It will turn everything yellow over time.
Shine up your tires when you get to the show.
Invest in a California Duster.
When you get to the show; have with you; your car wash bucket to do any final detailing (take microfiber towels, tooth brush etc....)
Open up your hood and trunk ( disconnect trunk light ).
Bring you a good chair, find some shade........and

HAVE FUN ! ! !

Hi Steve,
Good question,
Read the below rules & being a active member helps so that
member's get to know you & your Monte Carlo.

Monte Of The Month Requirements/Rules

Monte of the Month Requirements

1. Must be an active MCF Member
(usually this is 12 posts a month, but we understand that sometimes members go away for a while and return. In this case, the staff will determine if the member is considered to be active enough for eligibility)

2. Member`s Monte must be posted
in the Photo Gallery, have an MCF "Garage",
or a link to Member's photo site.

(please don't use another forum to host your pictures. Some forums will ban you for doing this. There's lots of FREE hosting space here and on the web.)

3. Gallery should include pictures of
Front/Side/Rear
(Interior/Engine a plus 4 member)

4. Every MCF Member can nominate
one (1) member`s Monte
and
support the nomination
of one (1) other Member`s Monte.

Only your first supporting nomination ("support") will count.
So choose wisely before you post your support for someone.

* All member`s
are eligible for MOTM
(including Moderators)

5. The Top (3) Member`s, with the most
nominations will be entered into the
MOTM Contest.

6. The MCF Monte of the Month Nominations
will begin, ten (10)days before the end of each Month
or determined by the MCF Staff.

7. Voting will begin five (5) days before the end of the Month
or determined by the MCF Staff.

8. Contest Ends, five days after voting begins. The closing date and time is posted with the voting results.

9. Winner will be confirmed on the First Day of the Month by the MCF Staff, & posted.
(The voting doesn't necessarily end at midnight.
The voting poll will display the exact day and time the voting ends. )

10. In order to be eligible, you must currently own the car, and it must be road worthy.
If the car is a track-only car, it must meet track safety standards.
(Basically, if your car is sitting in an impound yard or a junk yard, you're not eligible. I'm sure you loved your Monte, but it's gone now. Sorry! )

11. Each Monte Of The Month winner, for that calendar year,
will be entered in the Monte Of The Year contest
held at the end of the year.

12. Monte Of The Month winners are ineligible for
the MOTM contest the following calendar year.

13. You cannot nominate your own car.
(We're all proud of our rides. But really...
If you have to resort to nominating your own ride,
chances are some heavy competition is already stacked against you.)

14. You cannot nominate and support the same member.

15. Votes will remain annonymous.
However, in the unlikely event of a dispute over the voting results,
an Administrator may need to reveal the results to the forum staff.
Decision of the forum administrators is final.

___________________________

These rules can be ammended at the MCF staff's discretion.

Decisions made by the staff are final!

On a personal note:

Yes, there's a lot of rules. Unfortunately, they are the result of previous problems or people looking for loopholes just to get their way.

We can't anticipate everything, so if a problem comes up,
the staff will do our best to come to an acceptable solution.

Helpful Tip: Arguing with the staff doesn't help your case!

The Monte of the Month competition is intended to be a fun and friendly
way of showing pride in each others rides. And a way of appreciating what a good job the member has done.
If you don't win right away, don't take it personally.
It doesn't mean people don't like you. We all try to be friends
here on MCF. And sometimes a person gets nominated who really stands out for one reason or another.
