Default How Much Horsepower Are You Pushing?

I was just wondering how much Horsepower you could get out of our Montes. I want to mod, upgrade, and beef up my Monte and give the Monte Carlo a good name again. I heard its really hard to mod a FWD car because youll get more wheel spin? Im not sure how i feel about that..

any opinions? how much are you current putting out? what mods did you make?

wheel spin is very common in an FWD vehicle, you can always go with slicks but that's hard on the tranny..

I'm 180 HP stock with ~17% drivetrain loss = 150 HP to the wheels. Current I have Wizaired CAI-1-2WHP, Milzy tune-2-5WHP, ubend delete to dual exhaust. All of this i've probabl gained like 3WHP max.

I have ported upper and lower intake manifolds, 65mm throttle boddy, hot burning coils with new wires and plugs that are going on soon with a fresh overkill tune. This will probably give me like 10WHP pushing me to about 163-165 WHP give or take depending on tune.

I am looking to step it up one more and cam and do heads, along with shorty headers. This will probably give me about 30-35 WHP maybe more, pushing me over the 200WHP mark hopefully.

This is all an N/A 3400 tho, those 3800's can get more power due to more available mods and everything.

The 3800 is a very mod-able drive train. To think you can't mod them, you should hit Impala and Bonnie forums (not to mention ones JUST for the 3800). You can do small to big things.
You can see specifics about my mods at this link:
2004 Chevy Monte Carlo SS

I don't know how much HP I am putting out, but it's got a lot more get up and go. Currently my L36 3800 N/A has:
- L67 coil packs
- L67 Throttle Body
- Custom Port Matched Lower Intake
- ZZP ER Rockers
- ZZP Power Log
- ZZP 2.5" DownPipe with high flow cat
- ZZP High Velocity 3 Insert
- Resonator Delete
- UMI Performance Trailing Arms
- Energy Suspension Front Sway bar bushings and sway linkages
- Standard drop in K&N Air Filter (I know I need to upgrade to a CAI sometime soon)
- PCM Tune

All this equals FUN!
It does NOT compete against v8 drive trains (to my knowledge), but it's certainly not a let down in the v6 class.

My v8 puts a lot of wheel spin if you just hammer it, but if you get on it easy at first it's not so bad. Now the torque steer that's a different thread
