I washed my car 6 days ago when it was 20 and then 2 days ago when it was 35. Second time felt like a tropical heat wave. lol

I try to wash mine a couple times a week. Once at work if there's time (perks of working for a rent-a-car) and once through an automatic wash to rinse the undercarriage. When it's below freezing I just dry the doors so they don't freeze shut on me.

We have been pretty lucky here - Last 2 weeks I have been able to wash my car at home - it's a much better job than the do-it-yourself car wash.

Quick wash & vac today. Sun was out today, temp was 48.

Weird when the 'cold' water from the hose feels warmer than the wet wash mitt.

I use rubber cleaning gloves - works like a charm - my hands don't get cold at all and that's when temps here are in the 30s

It was a dry, cold day around here yesterday so the Monte got a thorough washing, wipe down and detailing.

I always wipe down the door jambs, under hood and trunk. Another little 'trick' to prevent the doors or trunk from freezing shut is to condition the weatherstripping with white lithium grease. It keeps the rubber soft, subtle, new looking and it won't freeze to the door/trunk. It's also best to use COLD water when washing your car. Hot water has a higher concentrate of calcium which increases the chance of water spots if you don't do a complete wipe down after washing.

I'm not into a concours d'elegance level of detail, but always do this. I also wipe down the engine cover, radiator support, braces and other under hood bits that get coated in muddy water in wintertime.

I used the shop vac to draw out this fall's leaf particles and other organic matter from the cowl intake screen.

35 degrees is about my cutoff for hand washing the cars on the drive at home. I NEVER take any of my cars through the automatic car wash. I did take the Cruze to the do-it-yourself quarter wash two weekends ago, which is my way (just during the winter months when the temp is too cold) of removing the salt from the car while getting a halfway decent wash. It was in the high 20's and the water froze on the car when I pulled out of the bay afterward. If I wasn't in Mexico right now I would have hand washed the Cruze this past weekend since Saturday was 60 degrees back home.
