When I was young & dumb (like yesterday & 2day : )
I really messed `up

Now, I'm alittle bit older~> little bit wiser, &
I'm learning more each day 4-Sure : )
I lost my driver's license for Street Rac'in
It was a few years ago on A1A with no traffic
in the early morning hours.
We thought we were safe, but the police appeared from
nowhere . Like they fell from some outer~> `Space

I had a 95 Honda Del Sol VTEC (with a Garet Turbo
& Mod's & Front Rac'in Slicks 4 the track)
and was Rac'in a 05 Monte Carlo LT 3.8L.
My VTEC was run'in in the low 14's.
`Space..STOP U R Go'in 2 Jail 4-Sure

I won the race, but lost so much more : (
I later traded the kid my Honda for his Monte : )
(even trade) Now, the BeachBum's could ride with me : )
The Monte was in mint condition & only had 4Kmiles..He got
it from his Aunt as a gift.
-rich `kid -He never had 2 give up 2 get.
He was on a free ride...He ruin the Honda, &
his friend blew up the engine a month after he had it.
He now has a new Mustang G.T. & is @ college UCF.
I think he will be there 4-ever : ) He's a partier : )
(I really believe that `if U have 2 give up to get a car, that you
take better care of it, then if it was just given 2 U) 4-Sure : )
(pic of LT in my photo Gallery)
My Honda was my 1st ride & I put my life's saving$
in2 it and was constantly work'in on it and
replacing the clutch, etc...It was eat'in my $'s.
(like the below 1)

Charges were reduced to reckless operation, 6 month
DL Suspension & placed on driving probation : (
Attorney + Court Cost + Fines + HighRisk
Insurance was not worth the risk 4 sure.

Expensive lesson learned...Again, the hard way.
I now take it 2 the track in Orlando.
Couldn't drive for six months & had to go back
to riding my skateboard : (

the beachBum's helped

I'm now 21, and my insurance is still super high,
but it's slowly decreasing. It was my first & only
ticket...I now drive smarter/safer....
OK, whose brave enough to tell their story ?
Your turn, yes you still read'in my words b-4 you.
Post your Story lol, don't be afraid
"If the `kid can do `it ? anyone can"

Thanks for posting and sharing that with us. Hopefully someone can learn from your mistake. I also owned a Del Sol. It was a 1994 SI. They are fun cars. I never got caught racing, but did have 9 tickets in 3 states.

I was at fault in an accident that sent 3 people to the hospital and cost 36,000 to the insurance company. Stupid thing is I was not racing. I came over a rise in the road at night and at 35 mph and saw something move on the side of the road. Glanced over and when I glanced back there was a car stopped in the road turning left. I couldn't stop and hit them. The seat belts didn't lock in the del sol and I hit the roof and steering wheel. I had bruises on my head and spine. I never went to the doctor but still have problems. The two people in the subaru were treated and released. The worst part though was I was taking my employer's mom home who was 84 and frail. She would never click the seat belt because her bones hurt from the pressure. Well she hit the dash and cracked a rib. The doctors did not identify the cracked rib and she dyed 6 months later from pneumonia from the cracked rib. The family never blamed me, but I will live with it for the rest of my life.

The last big mistake I made was going to the illegal street races in Las Vegas. I had my Subaru WRX then. I was not racing but the police showed up. We took off and were being chased by a helicopter and a squad car. There were 4 of us in a group. We hit and intersection and split off. They followed us for awhile but then broke it off. I am not sure exactly why. We were doing 120 through and industrial park. Any way when I got home that night I vowed to never race on the street like that again. So far so good and no tickets in the Monte.

To those out there who race. No that there are consequences to racing on the street. Please don't put others in jeopardy.

...Hi `Todd, thanks for sharing your driving history. I know that your words make me think about the consequences of my bad driving acts. Like you posted, I hope that others can learn from our mistakes, or misfortunes.

I have learned that we must live with our actions, past & present, but hopefully we learn from our mistakes never to repeat. I was taught better by my grandfather, but then I thought I knew more & loved racing on empty beach roads.

It's the case of "I wish I would've or What `if's" Some, you just can't take back : (

The older I become, I'm learning that my grandfather & his senior citizen friends that helped raise/teach me & the bum's
were correct in their teachings. They were great mentor's. It took us awhile for that to sink in & the more I travel my life's journey, the more I understand their teachings.

I hope more member's post/share their stories like you so openly shared...I shall check back...Thanks again `Todd, 4 you are our MCF `Teacher 4-Sure.

Police: Driver challenged cars before fatal street race
Red Camaro & a Black Chevy Monte Carlo
By PATRICIO G. BALONA
Staff writer

HOLLY HILL -- It all starts with a souped-up car pulling up next to a similar car in the street and revving its engine.
The driver of the other car with its engine, also altered for power and speed, takes the cue and they speed down the road. Usually none of the racing drivers knows each other, Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said.
But these spontaneous, illegal street races are dangerous and often claim the lives of the drivers, passengers or innocent bystanders, she said.
"The road is not designed for these high rates of speeds," Montes said. "You have an altered car for power and speed, a driver with an attitude, and most of the time they are inexperienced and there are other vehicles on the road. And then you have a disaster."
Police believe a similar incident unfolded on Nova Road in Holly Hill on Thursday night.
An illegal street race at 8:30 p.m. left three people dead, Holly Hill Police Chief Mark Barker said. Witnesses told police a red Camaro pulled up to a car and revved its engine. Both cars took off, and police now know the Camaro, driven by Jeremy Allison, 21, was traveling more than 100 mph.

The Camaro first stopped -- the driver challenging another motorist -- but was ignored. It then approached a second car, possibly a black Monte Carlo or black primer-colored sedan, which picked up the challenge, Holly Hill Police Sgt. Gina Baker said.

Allison, of Ormond-by-the-Sea, along with Kathleen Floyd, 54, and her daughter, Rachel Wright, 17, both of Ormond Beach, died when the driver lost control and the car struck a concrete road barrier in the southbound lane of Nova Road, splitting the car in half.

Wright was a senior at Seabreeze High School and had only been at the high school nine days, Principal Bob Wallace said. Wallace called Wright's death "heartbreaking."
Wallace said Wright started classes at Seabreeze on Aug. 24 and was a student at Flagler Palm Coast High School and the Advanced Technology College in Daytona Beach last year.
Counselors were on campus Friday for students who needed help dealing with the loss, Wallace said.
Allison was a family friend, said Wright's best friend, Ashley Gary, 18, of Daytona Beach.
On Friday, Gary and Amberly Taylor, 17, both Mainland High School students, sobbed quietly near the crash scene. Taylor found Wright's emerald and diamond ring in debris near an auto body shop, and the sobbing turned to wailing.
"Rachel was my best friend," she said between gasps. "She was always so happy. She would never want anyone to be upset or hurt."
Gary's friendship with Wright was instantaneous when they met at Advanced Technology College and were together every minute.
"If we weren't together, people would ask me where she was," Gary said.
Gary lived with Wright and Floyd for several months.
"Her mom was great. She was like a mom to me," she said, wiping away tears. "She would have done anything for anyone."
Robert Gary said fate brought his daughter, Ashley, home.
"She could have been with them," he said, his voice cracking. "For whatever reason, she was at my house last night. As a Christian it's hard to know why tragedies like this happen."
Ashley Gary placed pictures of herself and Wright at the small but growing memorial.
Wright, Gary and Taylor, along with other friends of theirs, spent hours listening to music together as they cruised around.
"Remember how we'd always sing rap songs (in another friend's) car?" Taylor queried her friend. "Did Rachel have a favorite song? I don't think she did. She loved them all."
In Thursday's crash, the impact of the red Camaro carrying Wright, her mother and Allison, on the concrete barrier was so intense that 9-1-1 callers said it exploded, authorities said. The wreck, just north of 15th Street on Nova Road, split the car in half and the front end landed 30 feet away from the back end, investigators said.
The bodies were so badly mangled emergency workers had to do a thorough examination to determine their gender, officials said.
The car was registered to Stephanie Shetler, Allison's former girlfriend with whom he has a child. Police do not know whether Shetler loaned him the car or was in the process of transferring the car title to Allison, Baker said.
Thursday's crash is the first incident of illegal street racing Holly Hill police have worked, Barker said. Illegal street racing is not increasing in the area and is not a problem like it is in the Orlando area, he said.
In her 15 years as a trooper, FHP Sgt. Montes said spontaneous racers are mostly men, ranging in age from 17 to 40.
"It's an adrenaline rush for teenagers who haven't quite grasped the concept of dying," Montes said.
FHP investigators discovered victims have either been showing off, videotaping themselves racing or just challenging other modified cars to discover the potential of their own, she said. Investigations have rarely shown women behind the wheel, Montes said.
"The sad thing is that all illegal street racers don't really think they are doing something bad," Montes said.
Cars have split in half when striking trees, concrete barriers or utility poles and known to be going 30 to 40 mph over the posted speed limit.
Parents can spot red flags for illegal street racing if their children frequently purchase car parts or equipment on eBay to alter their cars. These include mufflers, spoilers and gas gauges.
"Nitro gas is not cheap and using this fuel is definitely a clue," the sergeant said.

Street Racing
Officials say there are three types of illegal street racing:
ORGANIZED: These illegal street races involve groups of drivers who meet at designated streets or public roadways. Races busted by the Florida Highway Patrol have included up to 100 cars. It is easier to monitor because law enforcement officers routinely know about the meeting places.
SPONTANEOUS: These are harder to track because they occur when least expected on public roads. Drivers jump at an opportunity to race. Many spontaneous illegal street races end in crashes that often kill drivers, passengers and innocent bystanders or motorists.
DRAG: A misnomer for illegal racing, drag racing is the term used for a legal race that is held at a sanctioned facility. The closest drag racing tracks are in Taft and Bithlo. These facilities were built to get illegal racers off the road and have them racing at a legal place.

I have gotten 2 tickets in the Monte. One was a charge of reckless driving in a parking lot, which was just a simple squeal of tires and a cop was pulling in and it was 2am, I think they thought they were going to be getting some underage kid with a DUI, but I was above 21 and I never drink, so they just said reckless driving and called it a day.

The 2nd was a race on the highway, I was racing a silver grand am (I believe) and when I decided I won I shut it down, but it wasn't early enough and the cop was able to clock me at 108 mph. That was in a 65, so in PA that would have been an instant loss of license. The cop was cool and was talking to me about my Monte. He really liked the car, was shocked to find out it was mine. I provided all the paperwork in my name, and we just talked for a while. He told me to take it easy and gave me a ticket for an 85 in a 65, which is supposed to be just a few points and a little fine (around 200). I paid the fine, but I don't think it was ever reported since I paid it the next day before it was even in the system. My insurance never went up (it actually went down!) So I think I'm running on no points. However I take it very easy now, just in case.

And just last night I was pulled over driving without tail lights on, I bumped the switch getting in, oops haha.

Only 1 ticket in the monte.

A little wet outside and had some crap old *** tires on the monte and it was back to the 50's, so cops were everywhere got an excessive excelleration ticket. Burned the tire all the way through the intersection and didn't even know it. System way up and still had the stock exhaust. I was wondering why it was goin so slow. lol

Next thing I knew I had like 5 pigs behind me. Apparently they thought my B/A multi colored monte was gunna run or somthin. Other than that 4 20 over speeding tickets. Gave up my licence becuase I couldn't afford ins.

1 driving w/o a licence and no ins in wis...g/f was falling asleep... damn that sucked... then anotanother cuz im dumb...then almost another again new g/f falling asleep we were a block from our house....

so he let us go....got my lic back about a year and a half ago and am paying $$$$ for ins now but a little longer nd it will be clean... almost 5 years now since the last no dl and ins...

and got another 2 on the excessive acc eleration.... 761.65 for 6 months and thats w discounts and this is for the escort.....

I've been pulled over in the Monte 4 times for speeding, and got out of all 4 tickets...they were all between 80 and 88 MPH...I did get tweo tickets while driving the Monte though. One was for an un safe pass on the right, and the other was the following to close one I just got with the accident bull crap...

In my Cavalier I got pulled over once for doing 107 in a 65, and the cop let me go for that too...I said I was late for a final, and if I did not get there I would fail the class automatically for not being there...he let me go and told me to keep it under 80...

I got pulled over once in high school while driving the truck, I ran a yellow/ red light in the rain...but I explained that there was no way I could have stopped in time, and that I was doing the speed limit. I told him I did not have ABS, and would have just slid in the rain (the truck is good for that)...He then lectured me that I should not have even been driving the speed limit since it was raining...but let me go.

So both tickets i've had were not for speeding (how IDK, cause i'm ALWAYS speeding! Thank you Radar detector)! But I am very luck to have gotten out of so many tickets for sure. Go figure, both tickets I did get were seriously bull crap tickets...the passing on the right one was because I crossed a white line while merging on the highway (lame), and the accident one you all know about...But all in all, I guess I deserved those tickets from all the other crap...
