How many gallons.....?
Of fuel can our monte carlo's take to fill up? I was driving to Springfield IL from Chicago yesterday with my father for a fishing trip and about 25 miles before reaching our destination my low fuel light came on but my dad felt very confident it will make the next 25 miles before turning off and it did, well it turned off about a 100 feet from the intended gas station but the momentum of the car rolled us right to the pump. So im fueling my baby with shell V-power of corse and when i walked back to remove the nozzle it read 19.47 gallons with a total price of 81.75 at 4.199 a gallon. I couldnt believe my car took almost 20 to fill up all the way but i guess it does. Highest i took before was 18 gallons and i was shocked back then but now this is new to me. Any one ever reached a higher number?

I think the manual says 17 gallons but it's probably a little higher then when you add the filler neck it will take a bit more. so i could see it taking 20 gallons. Other times when you filled up it was probably not completely empty where as this time you said you coasted into the station.

5th gen is 16.6 My highest fill up was 14.2 gallons. When i get lower on fuel my guage goes nuts and is horribly inaccurate so it becomes a guessing game

I thought I read 18 is tanks size most I have ever put in is 15 gallons most times with light on and it was sitting on E. Here I thought 3.799 was bad... Good thing the station I like sells 89 octain at the same price, and is usually a little lower

Well i guess im moving to south Carolina soon lol 3 dollars a gallon holly smokes i didnt think it was that low anywhere in the country. And back then i use to run 87 till i hit 100k, then 89 till 150k now its either shell or bp 93 octane. And yea i dont recommend running till ur outa gas it hurts the fuel pump and injectors but i did win a $81.75 bet with my dad for that.
