How do you take apart the dash
Hi there,
I'm getting my Monte ready for car show season and I have alot of dust trapped behind the plastic covering the gauge cluster. How do you remove the plastic to get in there?

RE: How do you take apart the dash
remove the fuse cover on the drivers side.
remove the screw
remove the bottom part of the dash.
remove more screws
open glove compartment. remove screw
PULL!!!!!!!!!!
GENTLY!!!!!!!
oh also to get it off you will need to set the E brake and put the car in first gear to get it to come past the stearing wheel and the shifter
So this means your key's will be in the ing. so make sure to have all the extras off the key ring to.
I have a extra key they i used for this i modifyed. with a dremal tool to be shorter and narrow enough i can take the dash aprt with out scratching it.
Works wekk if you have a extra one or can get one cut. other wise use the normal one and then threow the car in gear and pull it out when you get the dash to that point. works fine also.
to ge tthe guage pod out there are 4 screws on it one on top and bottom on each side and one big plug undo all of those and the whole thing comes out in your hands.
then you verry carefully push the clips out of the top and the lens will fall off for you.
at this point you are going can put the guage overlays in if you have them.
if not it is the best time to get them if ya want to have them.
revers everything to put it back in to the car.
Becareful as it will flex going around the steering wheel so watch what you hit with it so that you dont scratch other parts of the car up

It's simple once you get in front of it.
I remember having to remove the driver side pillar cover too. Oh, make sure you pull your key out of the ignition when you pull the cluster cover. I killed my ignition the first time by yanking outward on the ignition cylinder..
