Not drive them in the snow.

More seriously, rustproof the underbody. Wash every corner of the car weekly. Cross fingers and hope for the best.

I have my car undercoated every other year and do not drive it in the winter at all.

I degreased the undercarriage, then applied a professional grade undercoating. I never drive in the snow either and never in the rain if possible. If your Monte is your only car, undercoat it and wash the underside and suspension components when possible at a car wash. In the summer go underneath and do any rust prevention and undercoating touch ups. After that you just have to call it good...... Good luck.....

I have not done this, but I've known some people to coat the underside of the car with used motor oil once every fall.

But being mindful to wash the salt off at a power sprayer whenever the weather takes a break from blizzard to thaw is a wise idea. Get the salts OFF the car (along with the other dirty and debirs).

There's also a wax you can apply (seen it used more with older vintage cars)

Undercoating and washing it after driving in salty conditions... Luckily I don't have to deal with that most of the time, if only it were less humid here I'd be all set.
