RE: Hey.. I'm getting 17MPG Now
My 2000 SS with 170k on it (wow, I know) gets ~20 city, and 28-30 highway, but I run the **** outta my car.I have averaged up to 26 city and 34 highway, but this was driving likea G-ma. Its seems like no matter how hard I run my car, it will never average below 20mpg, and trust me when I say I run the **** out of it...

Do this, find a big hill, start down it, Shut your car off, into ACC mode, your using NO GAS and yet still gaining distance, the computer will be like WTF and jump to 99.9( atleast my GTP did)and then your gas milage numberswill look good! The point of this, you cant trust the computers. Top off your tank, drive 300 miles till E. Fill up, and see how many miles u went on the trip till it tops off. do this 3 times, then find the avg of that. Thats how i found it with my GTP, it said i was running 16 mpg , when in reality i was running closer to 19 city, and managed 32 on a cross country trip where it actually read 32. The info centers also do math in a wierd way to comensate for your reserve gallons, and mine would say i had0 miles left to go and ive still driven 10 miles past that and only fill up 15 out of 16 gallons. Just a thought, but all of my values could have been skewed because of a modded car! -Jon

Well I guess I will just come to like 15 mpg around town. And as for putting my foot into it, that will be happening a lot more.I was trying different things seeing if the MPG was due to me. It's not. So let the real fun begin.
As for the "soot" on the tailpanel, does the Diablo programalter the fuel mixture, thereby minimizing/eliminating that from happening?
