the impalla the 2012 year will be getting the 6 speed set up. i am wandering if there is going to do some thing special with those trans. i mean will it work with the 3.5 engines that they have for there flex fuel model or are they going to still use the 4t65e instead of the six speed 6l70

Okay, it looks like you're getting some info crossed here. The 2012 Impala does indeed receive a new 6 speed automatic, but it's not the 6L70E. The "L" in 6L70E means Longitudinal, which means that tranny is RWD. The 2012 Impala will receive the 6T70E (T meaning Transverse, or Transaxle, FWD).

The 2012 will have no 3.5L V6. It's receiving a 3.6L DOHC V6 with 302hp.

Lastly, there hasn't been an Impala SS since 2009. After that it was discontinued.

It drove me crazy reading the first two posts, so I have to point it out. :p

Impala, spelled with one L, not two. And it looks better with the I capitalized

sorry i got off work been up for a while been up since 3 in the morning. got off around 2 got home at 3 and couldent get sleep and have to do it again sorry for the confusion. i am wondering if that engine combow will fit in the monte's that have the 3.5 in them. it will open alot of possibility's for the ones rockin the 3.5 v6 models that arent the 3800 and the supercharged. just wish chevy continued putting in the 3800 or model of engine they will continue with.

Agree about continuing the 3800 motor

We're lucky they kept making it past 99. That's when the 3800 was originally slated to be discontinued. Interesting fact though, the Series III were the first gasoline motors to achieve SULEV standards.

my question is iam i the only one thinking on putting the 3.6 and the six speed in the monte. i know it is some thing different but it is or i mean some thing i am interested in doing. i know there is alot of 3800 supercharge swaps and builds but has any one thought of doing the 3.6 and the six speed swap. other than i i am trying to find out if the 3.6 and the trans shear the same engine and trans mounts if not i dont mind the extra work down the road.

what comes with the impala is the auto 6 fwd and i am trying to look in no prevail yet for the alienment of the mounts of the trans and the engine. i dont mind the ls4 but it shares the 4t65ehd model we all fwd have. i am getting ready to look at an impala the 2012 just to look at one under the hood to see what is the difference from the 3.5 engine mount set up and the 3.6 set up as well as the trans and look at the length of the cv axels to see what i need to mod when the time comes i am aware of the different shifters and the other electrical set up i know what i need so far is the engine trans and electrical harnes and the comps for the combo for the swap. but it might be a leap of faith to do the swap
