Help with Resonator Delete
#3
A local muffler shop replaced my rotted out resonator with a straight piece of pipe for $50. They said they get a lot of 6th gen Montes with that problem. The weld rusts and developes a hole like mine did.
Personally, I don't like the sound now. It's a bit louder, higher pitch, and a bit more raspy. To me my Monte sounds on the rice-y side. I'm seriously considering an aftermarket cat-back system now.
But for $50, the car sounds better with the straight piece of pipe than it did with the rotton resonator.

I personally noticed little change (but all the mods in my car may have impact on that).
But I wanna say the ol' Butt Dyno noticed a little extra pep (nothing crazy).
If it's rotted, delete it, if it's not broken, leave it alone.

The 3800 isn't going to sound great over certain RPMs regardless.
It won't be a large enough change for you to hate it all the time, you'll be alright with just deleting it for now.
